VMware Consultant

Dublin, Ireland / Remote

Responsibilities

The role requires both implementation and hands-on support experience of virtual environments. This role is part of a dedicated support role in a 24x7 managed service environment providing remote support and maintenance to multiple client environments on behalf of Triangle.

The candidate should have experience of supporting and managing environments built on VMware’s SDDC technologies, demonstrate strong ESX & vSphere skills as well as core infrastructure experience with Dell, IBM & HP Server and SAN. Some support and/or technical ability in migrations, backup infrastructure and disaster recovery required.

The candidate must be able to take ownership of complex issues, service requests and requests for change to ensure SLAs are met and to maintain customer satisfaction The VMware Consultant must be able to interpret design specifications provided by more senior level resource and implement those designs with minimal supervision or review.

Main responsibilities:

  • Act as Level 3 technical support for multiple customer environments across managed service and project engagements.
  • Effectively deal with high priority and escalated customer technical issues.
  • Follow and engage with standard incident, problem and change management processes to meet
    defined service level agreements including root cause analysis of critical incidents.
  • Escalate issues appropriately internally within Triangle or to relevant vendor while remaining within service levels
  • Pro-actively search out potential issues in the environment and resolve them before they become a problem.
  • Implement proactive systems management activities, including regular patching and upgrades
  • Enterprise level systems management and monitoring experience with experience of virtual environment capacity and performance thresholds and alerting
  • Installation and delivery of solutions and/or support services on customer site according to given design specifications and Customer or Triangle standards
  • Create and own technical implementation and testing documentation to Triangle and
    customer standards
  • Is able to plan and monitor tasks and effectively articulate progress and issues to architect and/or PM or service management staff.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills

Role specific requirements

  • VCP Certified with 3+ years of experience supporting and managing VMware and associated product range
  • 2+ years of experience of Data Storage and Management: FC and iSCSI SAN implementation experience required
  • 2+ years of Veeam and/or other Back Up Solutions Experience
  • Strong technical ability in supporting and maintaining virtual & physical infrastructure solutions essential
  • Experience of implementation and configuration of Virtual & physical infrastructure solutions desirable
  • ITIL Foundation Certified highly desirable
  • Security experience desirable.
  • Linux experience desirable
  • Full driving license
